It is thought that of all the animals on planet earth, there is only one that can build a fire and has developed a realization of itself so that it can ask and answer the questions: Who am I? What is this fire that burns within me and before me? Why does the flame rise, and why am I warmed before this fire of time? John Schmitz’s book on thermodynamics is designed for the mature general science reader who has developed a general knowledge of the physical science literature that does not require mathematics beyond the arithmetic of writing a bank check. |

I was getting a little impatient. For one thing, I’m used to giving courses, not taking them, so it was kind of strange to be sitting in the audience, ratherthan standing in front of a podium. Much worse was the fact that the courseinstructor turned out to have very bad teaching skills, and a less-than-firmgrasp of his subject matter. Finding yourself thousands of miles from home, forced to listen to a rank amateur for hours on end, can become unbearable.“Now if you please, divide yourselves up into groups of two, one in-structor and one pupil per group. |

I have previously written a review of Think and Grow Rich, which has probably provided a road map to success to more people than any other book, besides scriptures like the Bible. Before Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill wrote a series of sixteen lessons, called The Law of Success, which were designed to teach fifteen principles of successful living to students, starting at the high school level. |
