There are different software packages used in Civil Engineering. Some of them are mainly for drawing while others are for analysis. Among others AUTOCAD and Chief Architect may be mentioned as a popular software packages mainly used for drawing. For structural analysis, ETABS, SAFE , STAAD, and SAP2000 are popular. Each one has its own peculiar features.For example while ETABS is best for frame analysis of high building, SAFE is is for slab or foundation analysis.
